Bar Dive
A podcast about the people who are always there with us on our nights out - making our drinks, taking our food orders, bussing our tables and sometimes even playing a vital role in building community spaces where we can connect. Each episode of Bar Dive features a different person in the bar industry. From seasoned bartenders and bouncers, to owners and bar backs, we talk to people around the country about what they love most about working in bars and how they're adjusting to the new service industry landscape.

Episode 8
Iris got her start bartending in San Francisco at a historic lesbian bar and has since transformed her career into organizing large scale LGBTQ and Pride events. For years she worked as a bartender and successful event planner, but those two roles have recently stalled due to the pandemic. On this episode of Bar Dive, we talk about the awkwardness of starting out as a new bartender, what it’s like to plan inclusive events and what Iris hopes will be the next evolution of the service industry.
